Dirty as a Dustbin – Shame on you, Copenhagen!

Copenhagen, Denmark – 26 May 2013

Some years back I used to live in Copenhagen. Beautiful city – fabulous architecture set in clean streets full of people happily riding their bikes. Returning for a visit I was utterly dumbstruck and disheartened. Simple as.

Yes – Copenhagen’s still very much a cyclist’s wet dream. And – yes – the architecture is still beautiful even if it has paled on me over time with extensive travels to the far corners of the world. But what has certainly changed – or is it just me? – is the “clean streets” bit. For now I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves and sign off with a translation of the text on the trash can – “Clean (pure) love for CPH”. Touching – and so utterly ironic, isn’t it?
